SECRETOS PARA MANTENER EL CUERO IMPECABLE

SECRETS TO KEEPING LEATHER IMPECCABLE

At MIJA we use premium cowhide . Because it is leather, it may have variations or irregularities in its tone, but this is what makes each leather authentic, no two are the same.

Leather is one of the few materials that improves with time. It's like wine. The older it is, the better. However, this doesn't mean that it doesn't get damaged or deteriorate. We must clean it, moisturize it, and protect it so that it is a piece that we can preserve and pass on from generation to generation.

LEATHER CARE TIPS:

CLEAN: It is ideal that for this first step you choose a soft white cloth. At this point you may be wondering why it has to be white. If you choose another cloth you may run the risk of it bleeding and staining your pieces, which would be a disaster. Once you have chosen the ideal cloth, you must first remove all the dust from it. Remember that it is dry.
If your piece is light (soft colors such as white, beige, nude): It is ideal that after removing the dust with a white cloth you use our *special soap for leather* this will help you remove excess dirt on light surfaces.
MOISTURIZE: Leather is skin, so you need to moisturize it to prevent it from drying out or cracking. You can do this with our *essential cream* that will help you moisturize it with a unique formula created in France. Ideally, moisturize once a week to prevent damage to the skin. (Don't put any kind of oil on it, for anything in the world).
PROTECT: Store your items in cotton bags (MIJA bags are ideal) that are ventilated and not completely sealed. DO NOT store them in plastic bags, as these generate moisture and can cause mold to appear. Try to preserve your bags as works of art and do not stack them on top of each other, because they can create marks between them that can deform their original appearance.
Be very careful with rough surfaces that can scratch your pieces and stay away from sharp objects that can cause irreparable damage.

Treat your MIJA as if it were part of you, your own skin, and this bag can be passed down from generation to generation, not because you're tired of seeing it, but because it's an iconic piece of renewed tradition.

*Essential cream and our leather soap*: You can get it in the leather care category of our website.
